Description: Hobb is a Grith, one of the secret race that evolved alongside humankind, dwelling deep, deep down in the Earth. They have been watching us all that time . . .

Descended from dinosaurs, the Grith communicate with each other via telepathy, but cannot do so with humanity. They work to influence us through empathic projection, which they can also read. Because they are incapable of speech, they communicate with their human contacts (usually the Old Blood Mechanics - a compact formed whilst the tribe was in the steel tombs) via writing and Jack carries a bag of Scrabble (TM) tiles for this very purpose.

Hobb does not actually have a name, Jack gave his Grith contact this name. Hobb is a typical Grith.
